ABOUT ME

My unexpected journey began on February 17, 2014 when I finally went to the Doctor for an unexplained fever (which I had for over a month).  Numerous xrays, tests and finally a CT guided Biopsy showed 4 masses and the largest was a Lung Abscess.  It was assumed the other 3 masses were an abscess as well.

On April 18, 2014, after 2 months of intensive IV therapy for a lung abscess, I was diagnosed with Stage II Lung Cancer. Two of the masses had disappeared, one got significantly smaller, but the most important one - stayed the same size.

After more tests, the final diagnosis was Stage IIIA Lung Cancer - surgery to remove my left lung followed by chemotherapy is now my new normal. It was a moment in my life I will never forget, like a large boulder had been lodged in the pit of my stomach, and it has stayed there.  It is the moment when you realize there is nothing you can do or say or think to make it all better.  All I can do is fight the fight and share my journey, thoughts and feelings.
